Not the best day for my fandoms, dammit!

Oh, this was so not the best day to be catching up on One Piece and Naruto.
DAMMIT ALL, ASUMA! Why did you have to die? You had Shikamaru, Izumo and Kotetsu as back-up, the Third freakin' Hokage was your daddy, and you were Sarutobi Asuma, for Offler's sake!
"Look, I'm 327, I'm the official harbinger of Getting Your Hopes Up!"
"Yeah, well I'm 328, and your hopes are goin' fuckin' DOWN!"
And to be taken down by that posturing pretty-boy of an Akatsuki, nonetheless... Bitter? Me? However could you tell?
And then that last shot of Kurenai pretty much sealed the deal. One of my favorite OTPs ever, and it's gone. In such a horribly sad manner, too. ...Of course, that actually makes sense, considering the Naruto-verse. Ninjas die, and not always in a blaze of glory. Which is part of why I feel so cheated. He was Sarutobi Asuma, he wasn't supposed to die like that...
...What, you expected me to actually make sense? Maybe later, when it's not all so horribly *raw*.
On to the One Piece rant.
MASSIVE SPOILERS for Water 7 ahead. Proceed at own risk.
So I was getting caught up on One Piece today, Water 7, to be specific, and it is not the easiest arc to read. It's emotionally intense, it has more twists and turns than a corkscrew in a tornado, and it puts you through the wringer liek WHOA. And it's so very good...
So I started it, and at first I was all "Yay, new arc, with new characters! Iceburg an' Paulie an' Lucci (plusGucci Hattori the pigeon) an' Kaku and mafia carpenters!" And Kaku, did I mention him? Cliff-jumping rooftop-hurdling One Piece ninja that he is, I fangirled him so very hard. And on the basis of about a chapter and a half, no less.
And then the first real shock comes when the Going Merry is condemned, and that pretty much blows up in the Strawhat's faces. Usopp and Luffy duel, in what is probably the most vicious, hardest to watch battle thus far, and that is saying something. So that didn't really help.
But the really ugly part, at least for me, came when the members of CP9 were unmasked. GodDAMMIT, Kaku. I'd barely met the guy, started fangirling him pretty much on the spur of the moment, and here he is, a super-sekrit assassin, betraying Iceburg and just being plain Not Nice.
So that was very much with the ups and downs, but mostly the downs. And then I pretty much screwed myself over by reading 328 directly after that. Not the brightest move ever...
*takes a deep breath*
Well. I don't exactly feel better, but I don't feel nearly as icky as I did. Venting is a Good Thing. And 329 had better have *something* relatively cheerful, or I will not be held responsible for my actions. As for Water 7 and One Piece...eh, I've got a good chunk left yet. Things are bound to pick up, right?
Usopp needs a hug, and so do I.
